Darlene Kerns began her sculptural studies in 2003 as an apprentice. She continued her graphic arts education while also pursuing her intrest in the fire arts. Her strong interest in nature and sience brought her to San Francisco in 2006 where she began her studied of flamable liquids and fire effects. She work exclusively with steel and fire effects. Darlene kept sculpting intensively. Establishing strong working relationships with fine art foundries. Chris Sorensen being her friend and mentor, It is at this time that Darlene first understood that sculpture was the unquwstionable voice, which would allow her to be true to herself while also giving back. Darlene’s sculpture express her strong affinity with Nature and her genuine love for all human feelings. Wheather she is sculpting from her heart or using memories from her past, she uses nature’s raw forms to narrate the struggles and joys of her pieces. Darlene often finds beauty and truth in life’s challenging times. Her passionate observation of the human soul and of its distortion by what life has given her a profound knowlage of human nature. Together with her sculpting skills, it enables her to capture the individuality of her subjects and to create sculptures that express strong and vital emotions. In addition to her sculpture and fire effects work, inspired by her new surroundings, Darlene Kerns created this web-sight for Artists by the Artists.

ARTISTS STATMENT My sculpures are about spirituality, the elements, loss, groth, pain and love. They explore life’s continual cycle of tearing down and rebuilding. They are about the duality between loss and growth. I canot see one without the other. They are one in the same. I ask how is it possible that we have the capabilities to hate, kill, and destory while others and even the same person can love so deeply, show compassion with out limitations, and have faith and hope at all costs. I try to see all of what life presents to me everyday. Inside this reality my heart and mind travels through utter despair and sheer elation. I am constantly reminded that I am living and I am blessed beyond words. I feel the responsibility as an artist to reveal truth and remain humble. I want to speak for those who are too frequently forgotten or ignored and to pay honor to fellow creators... To inquire about this artist, please call 559-237-4934 or Email. Flame
